Time Perception

In July 2022, Sonja published her first co-authored scientific article in Scientific Reports, an open access online database for research in the sciences. The article was based on research in time perception completed in 2014 at Northern Michigan University. Sonja ran participants in the experiment, collected data, and wrote draft sections of the article.

Music Imagery

Sonja is currently working with Dr. Mounia Ziat to publish her Master’s thesis from Northern Michigan University titled, “A NIRS Study of Violinists and Pianists Employing Motor and Music Imageries to Assess Neural Differences in Music Perception.” This research investigated the brains of musicians while imagining movements and music. The article is set to be submitted for publication to the journal Brain and Cognition by the end of 2022.
